It's Monday....

Monday's are my busiest day.  It's the day I do laundry and the general cleaning that I neglected over the weekend.  Somewhere in between laundry and cleaning, I finished the second quilt for the twins.  I have the binding on the front and ready to hand sew it to the back.  I try to save my binding sewing  for evenings in front of the tv.  I now have three quilts ready to sandwich and bind.  I'm trying to not start another project until I'm completely finished with what I have pieced.

I have my to do list that I need to get busy with since we will be at a Thrasher genealogy meeting this weekend.  Hopefully we will find some antique shops or quilts stores to check out!  I think I'll map those out so I can tell Mike where I want to shop.  LOL

Blessed

I am very blessed.  I have two wonderful children who have turned into wonderful adults.  Ashley is married to Mike and they have blessed me with 3 three adorable grandchildren.  Andrew will be married in a couple of month to a really great young lady named Erica.  Ashley served 4 years in the Air Force and her husband is currently in the Army Reserves.  Andrew recently graduated from Virginia Tech and was commissioned into the Navy as an Ensign.

My husband of 31 years (Mike) retired from the Air Force after 25 years of service.  He was able to start working as a civilian contractor in the same office he worked in  while in the Air Force.  We have been blessed to live in many places...Ellsworth AFB, SD, Scott AFB, IL, Robins AFB, GA, Pentagon, Remote to Korea, Langley AFB, VA and MacDill AFB, FL.  Of course there were several deployments along the way.

I was blessed to be able to stay home with the children while they were growing up and am still home after the kids have grown up with lives of their own.  I've thought about going back to work and have an application that was recently given to me that I might turn in soon.  We will see what happens.  It would be an ideal job that I would love because I would be doing something I love.

My love for quilting started years ago.  I have older quilts that my grandmother and my husband's grandmother made.  I'll post pictures of those quilts soon.   Although I have "collected" fabric and quilting books for several years, I would still consider myself somewhere between a beginner and experienced quilter.  I am so blessed just to be able to stay home and do what I love.  Quilt!  Last month, my husband bought a Viking Designer Diamond sewing machine for me.  It is also an embroidery machine which I'm learning to do. I love that machine!  So much to learn about it though!

As I said....I am very blessed.

My first blog

I have decided to start a blog about my love for quilting and just life in general.  This will be a learning process for me since I have never had a blog but I have enjoyed reading my friends blogs.  Earlier this week I had a wonderful day at a workshop with Bonnie Hunter.  I learned so much that day!  I am almost finished with the wall hanging that we started during the workshop and will post pictures as soon as a figure out how to do that.  LOL  Facebook is easy compared to this!  I have most of my quilting projects posted on my facebook page.

This is a project I am currently working on.  The pattern is "Love Shack" by Bonnie Hunter.
